Terms of Service

General Terms

Please be aware that these Terms of Service are subject to change without any prior warning.  Butterfly Dezignz will not be held responsible for anything you feel you did not know because you neglected to read these Terms of Service.  If you have any questions about our Terms of Service, please feel free to Contact us, directly.  Be advised that we reserve the right to refuse, suspend or terminate services at our discretion when we feel that any portion of a approved and signed contract has been breached.  Thank you in advance for your interest.

If you are looking for a design for a weblog or other CMS, it is your sole responsibility to obtain support from the software company for the software product you choose to power your site and/or weblog.  We do not provide technical support for such software programs.  We will, however, provide you with advice, useful links to the software's knowlege base, support forums or other online documentation that may be helpful in getting you started using the software you have chosen.  All plugins are released under their own licenses, and are owned by their respective developers.  Butterfly Dezignz will only provide an installation service of said software in addition to any approved design work.

How Much Will A Custom Web Site Cost?

Because web design projects vary so much in scope and purpose, it is practically impossible to give a quote without knowing the details of a specific project.  Final cost of a custom design will depend on whether you only need a web site containing a few pages with no special features, or if you need a larger site with a shopping cart, weblog or other special features.  Please feel free to Contact us for a custom quote.

When Is Payment Due?

Your initial consultation, whether it be by phone, email, or in person, is free.  We require a $300 non-refundable deposit for the overall web design.  This must be paid before we begin discussing any concepts and site design.  One-half of the agreed upon total cost of the design and development of your web site must be paid upon approval of one of 3 design drafts to be submitted, before any actual graphic and coding work will begin.  The remainder of the agreed upon total cost will be billed in monthly installments on the first day of each month, beginning with the first day of the month following the start of any graphic and coding work for your web site, with payment due no later than 30 days after the date of each invoice.  Implementation and configuration of your final approved web design will only be done upon the receipt of the final payment.

Payment Methods

Invoice payments must be made through Paypal, where you have the option of using a credit card if you don't have a Paypal account.  If it is necessary for you to pay by check, please Contact us for payment instructions.  All payments must be made in U.S. dollars.  A surcharge will be added to the next month's invoice for any and all returned checks for insufficient funds.

Late Fees

Late payments will incur a monthly surcharge, appearing on the following month's invoice, and will continue until all late payment surcharges have been paid.

What About Updates?

We can provide updates and revisions to your web site at a rate of $25 per hour.  You will receive an invoice on the first day of the month following any such updates or revisions.  Unless other arrangements are made prior to any updates, payment in full for such updates or revisions is due within 30 days of your receipt of our invoice.  As stated above, late payments will incur a surcharge every month that payment is not received.

What About Trade or Barter?

It is not uncommon for web designers and developers to work for barter, as we have done in the past.  However, our busy schedule with work for paying customers no longer allows us to make these arrangements.  Our clients find that our fee is so reasonable, that they are able to comfortably pay for a site they never thought they could afford.  Please feel free to Contact us for a custom quote.

Found a Less Expensive Designer?

Our fees are competitive, but it may be possible to find web designers who are willing to work for lower fees.  Before hiring a web designer with a lower hourly rate, be sure to ask for an approximate quote to do the whole site, and be sure to look at their portfolio.  With 10 years experience in web design and development, we may spend fewer hours doing the same amount of work as a less-experienced web designer.  Therefore, while our hourly rate may be higher, you may be paying for fewer hours.  As the old adage goes, "you get what you pay for".
